Unity + Kinect
Hypothetical ....
I have a game idea, I am thinking of building it around the Kinect SDK for windows platform.
If I finished this game and you NEED a kinect to play it. Do I have to have some kind of license with Microsoft for my software ? Is there lots of IF ANY red tape that has to be gone through in order to specify that your product is made FOR KINECT.
Is their costs involved ? Licensing Fee's ? A cut of the profits from the software ?

Daniel

This is illuminated in the Kinect Developer FAQ and the End User License Agreement:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/kinectforwindows/news/faq.aspx
See "What are the terms of the commercial license?"
So buying a sensor and downloading the SD$$anonymous$$ means I will HAVE a commercial license ? there is no other cost ?
Ok I think I get it now, they have released a new "$$anonymous$$inect for Windows" sensor which comes with a license for commercial use. But technically I can still just use the XBox $$anonymous$$inect sensor which is cheaper as they do not legally have any say on what I do with it ? I just want to develop a game for windows using $$anonymous$$inect. Basically a prototype to take to publishers. I don't even think I will sell it personally
