Can one use a controller/joystick without restarting Unity?

Is it possible for unity to be aware of a controller that was activated while it's running? Like turning on a wireless XBox controller while the game is running?

Yes. It's even one of the hundreds of requirements to be able to actually publish a game on a console (I think it was ps3), so I suppose it must be possible for all. I have no clue how though ;)

Well it sure does in the editor. I have a wireless XBOX360 controller on my pc and it picks it up when connected and when it goes off. (It says that the controller is disconnected.)

Ya works in editor but not in a build
