Multiplayer server choosing requirements VPS is this enough?
Hello devs... Please provide a bit of suggestion for Multiplayer. I'm working on a multiplayer shooting game for android. I might have virtual private servers to host my game. Below is info of the plan I'm going to use. 1 GB RAM, 1 core CPU, 20 GB SSD, 1 TB transfer, 40 gbps network in, 1000 Mbps network out. Is that enough for following?: -Syncing X,Y,Z transforms -All animations of waking, running, jumping, shooting, falling etc and more -Spawning bullets, rockets and many other projectiles and other many items like gun pickups -Having lobbies And I couldn't think of more Is the plan good enough for this? Or is it less? (And also the RAM is 1Gb... How is this gonna affect gameplay?)
it really depends on how many active users you are going to get. i guess you can run a headless server with this hardware but i don't think that it can support more than few dozens player. also, it really depends on your Syncing code too. i don't think you can get your answer here. but i want to say that if you don't familiar with network program$$anonymous$$g. don't even try to create this kind of game with your own server structure
