Rendering Sprites in 3D
I have a 16x16 sprite.
How would I render it as a 3D object with depth? Similar to Minecraft style items.
My first attempt was to use a quad, but this left a box around the sprite which should be transparent, and did not seem to have depth.
Using a Quad should do the work. $$anonymous$$ake sure your texture has an alpha channel, then set a transparent or Cutout material with this texture.

To give a sprite minecraft-style depth you need to create a special mesh, I just happen to have one. Here is the contents of the obj file export: http://pastebin.com/1LV37CZu
Do whatever you want with it. :)
