Can a sprite as an SVG Vector file be used with Unity's skeletal animation tools?
I am considering what file format to use for my sprites/backgrounds of a 2D game, especially considering I want the game to be playable on anything from mobile devices to 1080p monitors. One solution I thought of was to use sprites in the form of SVG vector files made in Inkscape, however, when I import to unity and click on the sprite editor the option for Skinning Editor is not available. Are vector images not compatible with Unity''s skeletal animation tools? All required packages are installed correctly and I have had no trouble with PNG files in the same project.
Worst comes to worst I'll just export different resolution PNGs from Inkscape and make due.

This is exact question i wanted answer to. If you were to import .psb directly into unity then it makes turns all layers into separates sprites for you and can be used with skeletal animation easily. But then all your vector shapes need to rasterized . The only option left I think is to put sprites separately/far from each other like in spritesheet then Export As - .svg file. Then in pkg manager: install Vector graphics .and import it to unity. Then , manually slice those sprites and make bone animation yourself. And also arrange them 'heirarchy' by yourself.
