Unity Collider Jerkiness/Teleportation (2019.2.17)
Hello community,
So I'm at a loss right now of what to do. I've been facing collider issues and jerkiness with my player in my project which started happening midway through development. Initially, the first person controller (the default one from standard assets) would work perfectly fine. Now it arbitrarily is jerky when rubbing against certain surfaces or places. I updated Unity to the latest version, to no avail. There are no custom scripts, or colliders, its all box colliders and the default unity first person controller. I have messed with the rigid body settings: currently, it's set to collision detection = discrete, interpolate = interpolate, and is kinematic = true. However, the issues still persist: Please take a look at this video for a simple demonstration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aN2wb7R85ZI&feature=youtu.be notice how the controller jerks/teleports.
I believe the FPS controller is meant to work with a CharacterController, not a rigidbody. You shouldn't have both a rigidbody and a CharacterController on the same object.
Have you also tried to update the FPS controller though the asset store?
The teleporting / snap behavior is unusual, can you link the actual movement code?
