animate particle effect with existing clip animaton
Hello Friends, I'm looking for a tutorial or guide for simply starting and stopping a particle effect with existing character animation. I want my character to produce a fireball from his hand in one of my animation clips. This character is animated in MAYA, and then exported via FBX. I defined several clips. The particle effect is just a prefab from the unity particle pack. I copied one clip, made sure that the character prefab, with the effect in the hierarchy, is set for the new clip. I added an animation component to a game object that is the parent of the particle effect. I added the new clip to that animation component. I also added the property of isActive for the particle effect to the new clip, and set keyframes for turning it on and off. I also unchecked the play on awake for the effect, or actually tried it both ways. The new clip is put in the animator and I can play the animation. However, I can not get the effect to obey the animation: it is just active and on the whole time. I get an error about having to make the clip 'legacy' , but that will not work for character animation. So, I'm not sure what to do at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
