running and attacking animations..
should i make seprate animations for running attack and just standing attacking? should i use crossfade for the attack animation fading into him running and continually attacking.. this is for a melee sword type action rpg attack

Yes, you should make separate animations. It's difficult to crossfade and blend this kind of thing, because swinging a sword typically affects more than just the upper body. If it is only above the waist, it will look unrealistic.
