Question by Connerscraft · Mar 21, 2013 at 03:23 AM · aifollowclonezombies

Make Clone AIs Stay Apart?

I have a game where there are suicide bombers, and they follow you around. If you shoot them, they explode. They do the same if they get to close to you. I have one problem. The idea is to have a bunch spawned at once. Since they all have the same script, they all follow in the exact same way. After about 10 seconds, they end up on inside of each other and doing the exact same motions. how do I keep them separated from each other? I want them to run in a large pack, similar to CoD Zombies. I am somewhat new to programming, so any help would be amazing. I tried just adding a collider around the AI, but that did not seem to effect them for some reason. Thanks ahead of time!

I tried that code, and it did not work well for me. For one, the character I am using does not seem to respond well to the rigidody. It causes it to fly thru the ground. I already have a follow code, that works very well. I just need a way to add a colider to the AIs, and not have that colider reflect bullets. It should just collide with the other AIs. Also, when shot they explode. When I added the rigidbody, the explosions would kill the other clones. It should not do that.

you can prevent collisions by placing a collider on but setting it as a trigger and kicking back in the opposite vector any object which enters trigger and has a tag of zombie.

you can also modify your follow script some to follow points slightly further away on the x axis so there spread out in a lineISH (use random so its only ish)

then once they get close enough stop following near the player and follow the player directly the next few inches cause presumably its about to suicide in your face.

Thanks for the quick answer. How do I set it to only kick back things with the tag of zombie?
