How to make a material for particle systems to respond to direcitonal light, like sprite/diffuse?
I have a material, sprite diffuse, that is just a simple material with a sprites/diffuse shader. All my sprites use this material for the sprite rendering. I also have directional light in my scene. By changing the intensity of the directional light, everything in the scene gets darker and lighter predictably.
However, I've been trying to get my rain particle system to respond to the light in the same way. Sprite diffuse does not work (I guess that makes sense because there isn't a sprite, just particles), and the rain particles are black when sprite diffuse is the material. I tried making a "particle diffuse" type material but I don't see any "diffuse" type options under the particle subcategory. I'm very inexperienced with both lighting and particle systems, so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question.
My question:
How can I create a material for my particle system rendering that responds naturally to directional light?
