Question by mihl91 · Nov 26, 2019 at 06:26 AM · adsadmobunityadsbanner

is there an advantage of creating multiple Ad units/ Placement of same type in Unity, Admob etc?

In Unity or any other monetization, there is always an option of creating more than one Ad unit or placement of the same type. For example, you can create more than one interstitial or rewarded Ad units. While multiple banners can be shown at one time, we aren't going to show two interstitials or rewarded at the same time and a single Ad unit will be enough. There must be a reason we can create multiple Ads and I want to understand it.

There are a few reasons:

  1. You want to set different eCPM price points for the same ad unit. In Unity today, you must set up a new placement for the same ad unit if you want different eCPM price points.

  2. If you have multiple points to surface an ad that are the same type but in different points in the game.

Hi Carol. Thanks for answering. The first point makes sense to me. Not sure about the 2nd one.
1. By eCP$$anonymous$$ price point do you mean setting a $$anonymous$$imum eCP$$anonymous$$ as it can be done for Admob (https://support.google.com/admob/answer/3418058?hl=en)? In Unity Ad context, does it mean that every placement when initialised has a certain eCP$$anonymous$$ price point fixed and having different placements vary our eCP$$anonymous$$ price points across the game so we are not stuck with the least one?
2. Not sure what you mean here. In order to show an Ad in different places, I have used the same placement and it shows.
