how to give an object rigid body after x seconds

Hi all. I am making a clicker type game were when the space bar is hit it spawns an entity however I want these entities to be able to touch the ground but not each other. This is an issue because I get mountains of entities instead of lines. So I'm going to fix this by duplicating the ground onto different layers. However, the ground is made up of a bunch of different particles so after the particles are calculated in the scene I want them to be given a rigid body of their parent (a game object) so they all stick together and I can duplicate them into multiple layers without lagging out my computer. However, I don't know how to do this. Any help would be appreciated.
