Help with ortographic camera

I'm creating a card game where the camera is set in a top-down view. I made this camera ortographic (so cards away from center don't look weird) and everything seems to work just fine, except for this one issue:

At some points in the game, cards "jump" up (that is, to the camera), but my ortographic camera completely ignores distances, so no animation nor movement can be seen.

If I turn my camera to perspective mode, objects far from the center are visually deformed, and even worse, cards don't seem to stand in the grid object I placed beneath them (where they are supposed to be locked).

Is there any solution for this?

$$anonymous$$aybe some screen shots would help us understand. What is the FOV on your perspective camera?

If you need ortHographic camera, and be able to see things 'coming closer' I would suggest simply making those things bigger during the 'jump'
