Animate rigged armor having same rig as character
Hi all,
I am new to rigging and animation. I am using Unity 2019.1.1f1 version
In Blender, I have rigged armor models with the same armature (bone structure) used by the character model. I have exported individual armor pieces with the armature i.e. each fbx model has just a mesh (armor) and the armature. No animations.
In Unity, I have added the armor piece as a child of the character model and it sits perfectly with the character. But when I add an animation to the Character model. Only the Character moves and not the armor piece.
This is the hierarchy in unity:
In the above hierarchy, the Main Character 1 and the Villager_Shirt_1 has the same components - Transform and Animator. Regardless, of deleting the animator component on the Shirt or keeping it there is no difference. Do i need to fiddle with the Rig Import settings? Animation type is Generic and avatar definition is create from this model.
Do I need to export each armor model with animation from Blender or is there a way to just copy/attach the animation in Unity as each armor uses the same armature?
