Is there a way to display a persistent error or warning in the editor?
I wish to display a prominent error or warning that the configuration options on some GameObjects are in an invalid state. I want this information displayed at all times, not only when the GameObject is open in the inspector. I don't want to just log this warning repeatedly in OnValidate or anything, and I don't want the user to be able to clear these errors.
Unity does this internally with build errors by displaying them persistently in the console.
Is there a way to do this ourselves? A way to create persistent console errors would be good, but another way to give a similar user experience would also be welcome.
Detecting the errors is not a problem for me, I'm only asking about how best to display them.
