What is the best (and most accurate) method of creating a lightning effect through windows?
I'm designing a game that I'm looking to build within Unity, which will be a top-down survival horror that takes place within a building. One of my core elements will be a weather system that simulates periodic storms complete with lightning and thunder. Whilst bolts of lightning aren't needed, I need to create an effect that will make lightning shine through windows in a fairly realistic manner. Simply put, I will need to create the effect of lightning shining through a window and projecting onto the floor and walls. I'm just wondering what the best way to do this will be? I'd prefer a solution that would work on Android devices too (so I believe I'll need to use forward rendering).
It's just a light that flashes slightly before the sound of thunder then surely? https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/particles-effects/aura-volumetric-lighting-111664
If you want volumetric effects to go with it you could use an off the shelf solution.
