Can I display the Android device's camera feed as a background to a 3D scene? (for augmented reality purposes)
Is there any possible way to display the live video feed from the camera as the background to the unity scene, to allow any 3d objects in the scene to appear over the camera feed?
I wouldn't have thought it would be too difficult to simply turn the camera on from the app and apply it's feed to the background but so far I have been unable to find any information on how to do this.
Help appreciated.

Use Qualcomm's Augmented Reality Platform for that.
Unfortunately it does not appear to be compatible with unity 3.4.
iv'e had some trouble with the QCAR ARCamera. I love QCAR with all my heart and sometimes it decides to break for no reason and won't work in the final compiled version (on android at least) and sometimes it conflicts with another controller if you want to move the camera around in your own way, the other controller stops working when QCAR takes over... It would be useful to have a simple cross platform "Camera On" and use it like a skybox. If you don't need all the horsepower of QCAR then a simple camera background (video skybox) without using a texture? Not sure how that would be done but I would use it for my current project and probably others might use it as well. Just thinking out loud if anyone knows how to do this post away and thanks in advance!
