Monodevelop not opening in 2018.2.16f1
Monodevelop refuses to open when I open C# scripts. Visual Studio opens instead, and I cannot use that. I tried to set it in preferences but there was no option to set script opener as monodevelop. However, it works in 2018.2.14.
$$anonymous$$onodevelop IDE is no longer shipped with Unity. Currently the default (for windows at least) is Visual Studio. If you want to use another IDE you ll have to download/ install externaly along side ,if any, plug ins to work properly with Unity. Anyway ,in case you work on windows, would recommend sticking to visual studio, it is way better than monodevelop.
In the future don't ask the same question multiple times, if you want to change it use Edit.

Just set MonoDevelop as the default program in your OS, and set preferences to: default program.
Hope this works ;)
