Nicer Mecanim transitions?

So I've been trying to make my transitions in Mecanim look nicer, but they always seem to trip up over each other. I'm mostly speaking of Walk <--> Jog <--> Run and such. The only thing I've been able to think of to make the transitions smoother while getting them done in a timely fashion is to make extra transitions at different points on Exit Time, like at 0.0, 0.25, 0.5, and 0.75.

This just kinda feels a bit bulky to me, especially since I'll probably end up with like, 20 transitions or more for each walking animation by the time it's all done with. But is this the proper way to do things?

You can use blend trees ins$$anonymous$$d of transitions. Try this web player. Are those the kind of transitions you want?

As others say, the answer is blend trees.
