Is there a way to optimize pulling multiple images via WWW

I am working on a project that I need to pull images from URL. I have been using the WWW method but the problem is I need to pull many images into unity. Setting them up as asset bundles is not an option as I need to be able to upload images directly to a directory and have the images pulled by database and I don't want to package bundles every time I need a new image. Ok this all works except that I may have 1000s of images that need to be loaded at a time. So the main problem is that to do this I am making 1000s of www calls to a website. This eventually causes the website to bog down and stop. Then I have to wait until the website catches up. So my question is, is there a better way to pull multiple images at one time instead of having to make 1000s of calls to a website? I've looked for an answer for this but can't seem to find one that really matches my situation. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
