Get Step Count on Android?
Is there a way to get the phone's step count on Android? I'm working on a game which needs to track the player's steps throughout the day, and on iPhone what we were able to do is ask the player's permission to get their step count from their health app. Is there a way to do something similar on Android. I don't really want to have to ask the player to keep the game open at all times so that it can detect the steps itself, but any workarounds you guys know of would be really helpful. I've seen the Google Fit api but I'm not super sure on how I would get access to that and I'm trying to be able to track steps even offline so if that API requires me to be online and can't pull from a local count, that might be a small issue.
