Grid and or Tile System
Hello! I've been working on a grid/tile system similar to the one in this video.
I've created a plane that has the texture of a grid, and a script in which I can type the number of tiles on each side I want, and the plane/texture give me exactly what I'm looking for. For example, if I type that I want the Grid to be 10x10, then I get a 10x10 grid displayed by the plane/texture. Is there anyway I can actually make a functioning part of the grid now so that Unity knows where each tile actually is so that I can click there and instantiate objects etc.? I have an idea of how to achieve it, but I am unsure of how to start. Could anyone assist me?
EDIT: This is on an Isometric 3D Grid. So I will need the use of the x,y, and z. For reference, the grid looks like this.
