hello everyone i want to make 2d game but i don't know how to make 2d background, items, stuff i know how to draw in reality and i am very good at it i was one of the best in our city but i stop painting and drawing since then and now i want to use my talent in 2d games making games any suggestions how to make cause i am verry bad when it comes drawing and painting in PS and gimp..
This is not related to Unity.
But if you're interested starting, i suggest you start character sprite illustration and sprite animation.
Tools are a must, so it is advisable you get used to one (PS or GI$$anonymous$$P) and start creating content and test it in your favorite engine (Unity or other).

Painted/hand drawn styled 2D games are extremely popular; if you don't want to use an image editor then just create your artwork by hand and scan it into the computer. From there, getpaint.net is a free image editor. Unless all your textures are going to be rectangles, you're going to have to use some kind of image editor to make the background pixels transparent. Otherwise you'll have a white (or whatever color the paper is) square background behind all your textures. getpaint.net has a color replace tool, set the background color as the primary color and choose completely transparent as the secondary and fiddle with the tolerance level a bit (at the top) and it should take out the background in a few clicks. And there you have it.
Good luck.
