Android audio latency

Does anyone know if Unity has fixed the audio latency on Android devices with any of the new releases or patch fixes for Unity 5.x. I'm using a Droid Turbo and still getting terrible latency. I've searched the web for answers but it seems to be mixed. I would like to avoid having to make native calls to the Android OS. Unity needs to fix this problem as it's their engine that's causing the issue in the first place. Any elegant solutions out there?
