Move object in editor along two axes

In the editor (i.e not in script), how can I move an on the XZ plane for example.

I can move the object along one specific axis using the axis arrow, or I can hold the center and move it in 3d, but how can I move it along two axes only?

I found that switching to top view and then dragging using the center achieves this, but is there a way to do it from perspective view?

Seems to me you've answered your own question. No, there aren't even more ways to do it than those.
