how to create texture at runtime and assign to skybox?
hi,
i have created a 3d procedurally generated starmap with over 10000 stars, and i would like to render this to a skybox, so i can then destroy the star map to save memory.
so far i have 6 render textures, from 6 cameras, feeding the 6 faces of a skybox material, but i dont know how to 'fix' or save those textures onto the skybox, so i can then destroy the original, and just the use the skybox. i want it all done at runtime because i want to update skybox from time to time depending on the main cameras position in the 3d starmap space. i have tried save to png but it comes up with an error... the cameras are all set to 90 degree veiw, 1:1 aspect ratio, but the error says it is trying to read outside the area...
is there an easy way to save a render texture or texture2d into a skybox?
many thanks
paul uk
