Serialization of gameobjects. JSON, XML, Binary.

Hi,

What is the best way or plugin to serialize GameObjects in Unity?

I would serialize List of Gameobject or GameObject[,]...

It would be useful already store Components in it.

Toigh question. I only ever experimented with Binary serialization.

UnitySerializer is no longer supported but still available, although it's extremely complex which means it won't be easy to find bugs when something doesn't work.

Generally, the main problem is that GameObjects and all the other classes that are Unity-specific are not serializable, so you have to find a workaround. I created a free asset called SerializeHelper meant as a starting point for people to learn how to save and load their progress in the game.

I always go out of my way to say that serialization is a fairly complex topic and no solution will fit every project, so you absolutely will have to read, learn and experiment a lot on your own.

Try https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/3675 its very nice, i fond it a little tricky to load old version of saved games with a newer version but, nothing that dont have a way around.

Edit : plus it is free!

Ok thank you, but i really appreciate a plugin that works fine with Unity 5 and the its latest versions. If it's free and isn't supported very well i'm not interested. I like to pay for an useful and good service.
