[Help] Merging multiple sprites to create a long single background

Hi Im new to unity and i just wanted to ask how to join multiple sprites into one long background sprite?

e.g i have an infinte scroller 2D game. I have designed landscape but dont know how to add multiple landscapes to form one background. Shall i do it in photoshop? or is there any other standard software for merging sprites one after and other to create a background (2D)? is performance a factor? please! any help will be really appreciated.
