why Do my animations behave differently ?

Hello,

Two part question.

I am having a problem with my animations not have root transformation I have tried a couple of different methods to no effect.

If you look at the gif at the following link: http://imgur.com/khfT3me you will see that my animation does not move in the inspector where as the animation from the mecanim tutorial that plays first in the gif does have root animation.

What is the difference? I'm using blender as an animations tool (i tried importing the fbx from the working animations but it didn't import correctly).

the second related question is that I noticed that the inspector has extra icons (see attached image) and i think there must be a relation.

What causes this?

Change Rig type to Humanoid or Generic. Humanoid has better support for bipeds.
