What is a good alternative to the don't clear camera stacking now that it's been removed from the latest version of the LWRP?

Hey everyone.

Now that the LWRP will have the don't clear command disabled what's a good alternative to creating a camera stacking effect? More specifically, I use a camera that has a black background and watches a white circle move about to create a render texture to be used as an alpha channel.

I use this texture to create a 'scratch' effect. With the recent change my camera no longer keeps it's buffer and the render texture ends up always being black with just a spot of white on it.

From what I've read it seems like I'll need to create some kind of RenderPass or custom ScriptablePipeline. Does anyone have resources for doing this? I haven't been able to find any tutorials that an engineer with 0 graphics programming knowledge can easily pickup.
