Main move, scale, rotate Transform handles are missing.
Ok so after I start up a new project I create a scene and add a 3d game object like block or plain and when I try to move rotate or scale I'm seeing the inside handle/paddles but not the outer handles. Am I doing something wrong?
I've had this problem in 3dsmax a few times in the past was a quick fix, but this it seems does not occur that often because I have found not 1 thing about it. Not sure if it's because of recent updates there were 2 big ones this week, but I did notice there were 2 versions of unity download assistant so I removed one left the recent one and tried to open unity but said that it could not find the unity exe'file so I'm in the process of trying to re-download the SOFTWARE. Had to make the topic about 1080p because it would not let me make a topic unless it was a key word, and as far as i know there are no key words so I was send in a circle till I hit a number and saw that there was a 1080 topic lol wthek? Lol plz help me? About the main transforms gizmo, why is it not appearing?
Is one of the transform tools clicked (enabled) on the upper left corner? If the "Hand" tool is clicked, ins$$anonymous$$d of $$anonymous$$ove/Rotate/Scale, the gizmos won't show.
No I put it on each transform and all I see is lines no actual handles like the ones that are there to help you grab it better. I've used every 3d application and only had this same problem with 3d studio max, the solution for max is easy and well known and established bug. But this, have not found anything concerning a real fix, I mean it seems I'm the only one this has happened to? Hard to believe, since I literally have not even hardly done anything with this yet. ;note it did work when I first installed it about 3 weeks ago but ever since the updates, I have not seen the handles. It's been about 3 days now that I am stuck like this. Plz help me.
I'm not quite clear of what the problem is. Could you please post a screenshot to show exactly what you mean.
thats the screen shot notice there is no handles no matter what i choose light cammera or object it stays like this.
Wow! That's very odd! Never seen this before... I suspect that it might be a bug with your version of Unity 2018.3.3f1. I'm on 2018.2.18f1 and I can't reproduce the problem, no matter what.
I would try a Unity uninstall/re-install, and if that doesn't work report the bug to Unity (Help menu/Report a bug...), and then try a previous version of Unity.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
I may be a little late but you have to click the little box to the right of the Move, Scale, or Rotate button that says global and change it to local and that should fix the problem

Well I have thought about using a previous version but from what I found out is that unity will not support older versions of Thier code. So I am kinda stuck. I don't know where to go from here. I want to make a game but can't deal with the transforms like that, it make it ridiculously hard to build. If I do try a previous version do I need to work off line so it don't try to update? And I guess I have to remove the latest reviews first, but do I also remove all projects too? There was nothing in them just a bunch of test trying to get the gizmo to work? I know it's a question but this is an answer for a question that has no answer just more question to go around the last answer because answers have led me to knowheresville. Sry. My name says it all I'm afraid. I have worst luck. At everything.

Who says that Unity doesn't support older versions? That's nonsense! Today they released 2017.4.19 (take a look at the archive link I posted in my comment), which is support for the now quite old 2017 version.
You can have many Unity versions installed side-by-side (In different folders).
One thing you can't do, is open a "newer" project in a previous version of Unity. In other words, projects are not backwards compatible, but in most cases they can be upgraded to the current or a newer version (but always have a backup before upgrading a project, just in case).
Anyway, if a Unity uninstall/re-install didn't work for you, you'd have no problem installing previous versions and working normally.
Since I haven't seen this problem reported before (and it's quite a major issue), it might be a case of a bad installation. So, do try to uninstall and clean up any Unity leftover folders (if any), before installing again. It's quite likely that it'll work with a fresh install.
ok i tried it on a better wifi 5g and still had same problem. then got the 2017 version and having same problem again. ok help me out must be a switch to turn the handle non or something?
There's not much I can do since I can't reproduce the problem. BTW on what operating system are you running Unity?
From your screenshot I also noticed that it's not just the manipulator arrows, the "Scene Gizmo" is missing too, i.e. at the upper right corner there should be the thingy that you click on to view the camera along a particular axis. As it is, only the perspective label (persp) and axis labels (x y z) are showing, but the actual "Scene Gizmo" with the 3 arms is missing.
A few last things you could try, just in case your uninstall didn't clear/reset some settings (in the Windows registry or something):
Click on the upper right drop-down labeled "Layout" and select "Revert Factory Settings..."
Click on the Edit menu/Preferences, select "Colors" and then scroll right at the bottom and click on the "Use Defaults" button"
The 2017.3.0f3 version had a bug with the exact same problem you are having (see link bellow). So, maybe the 2017 you installed still has the problem. Try installing 2018.2.18, since I'm using this and I know for sure it doesn't have this problem.
Check out this forum post, where they have the exact same problem you're having, and they reported it as a bug. $$anonymous$$aybe you could post there to see if/how it was fixed.
ok will try that and let u know. btw i been modeling about 15 years.i know what a gizmo/world gizmo is. yup both are missing so ill try again with the 2018.2.18 rev. hopefully that will work. also is there a 2016 rev? my version of max is 2016 by default of my systems capability's, according to auto-desk.
A lot of testing and fiddling but I found that unity 5.4 work fine. Just don't have all the cool new stuff. Ty for your help pako!
