Why did Unity delete my project?
While I was working on my project I was trying to drag a sprite sheet onto my project in a folder that I named "textures" in my project file. When I tried to drag the sprite sheet it just suddenly deleted everything; my assets, my scenes, everything. I closed Unity and reopened it and my project was completely gone despite having saved about every 5 minutes. I mean I looked up on the forum to see if anyone else had this issue but the closest I could find was about people having their work deleted because of renaming the files that Unity comes with or something like that... this was a file that I created under my project files so I don't know if that means something. I presume there is nothing I can do about it and I should probably back everything up from now on, but if anyone could tell me what I did wrong so I could avoid it in the future that would be awesome. Or if by any chance I can still salvage my work that would be even better.
I just started using Unity myself, but I spent several hours building an application and was saving every time I changed anything -- as I always do in any application -- and Unity hit an exception and crashed. Now my scene is gone. And after scouring the internet apparently the only way to recover it is to be fucking psychic and not re-open the program without backing up the temp files...
WHO THE FUC$$anonymous$$ DECIDED THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA??? I was having a hard time deciding between Unity and Unreal, but I think Unity may have made the decision for me.
Did you have any luck?
