Got a Photon project; What's next?
Hi there, I have really got a general question about photon builds. I just started out using photon in unity, but I now finished my first project. I have build the application and the multiplayer works just fine if I run it on the same device. But once I had sent it to another computer, it doesn't open anymore and macOS gives me a error message.
So I was wondering, if I want to sent my build to other people so that we can play my project in multiplayer, do I need to think of certain settings when building the project or think of different ways to send the project?
Thank you in advance for your help, I just wasn't able to find the solution on my own.
Cheers
What is the error about? Understanding an error message is always the crucial part if you want to solve the issue that produced it.
If you post something about an error always always always post at least the relevant stacktrace parts with it as well as the code parts it points to.
it tells me on another Mac that the app cannot be opened, because apple can't search for malware in it. this software needs to be updated, talk to the developer for further information.
But I was asking in general how you would continue with a finished photon project, would you send the build or publish it in some way?
depends on what you want to do. I mean this is not really Photon related is it? This is the same problem for all games: How to distribute it.
Easy choice: distribute it using something like dropbox or OneDrive.
Slightly (but only slightly) better: Use Unitys dev space to upload a local build and generate a download link to share with others.
Better but mostly more difficult choice: Use a proper distribution platform. There are things like itch.io where you can upload and present your game and then there ofc are the big players like steam or the epic store.
What you do with your game is up to you and totally depends on the vision you have for it. Is it just for you and a friend? Do you want to earn money with it? Do you want as many people as possible to play it? As the answer to "how to continue with my game" is up to you there is no "one fits all" answer here.

Are both machines Mac? or Is one machine Windows and your other is Mac Because you have to Build to the target platform. The only way to build for Mac is to build on a Mac PC, no other way to produce Mac builds.
While it is correct that you have to choose the correct target platform it is absolutly wrong that you can only build for mac from a mac. This works absolutly fine. There can be issues with certain shaders as Linux and mac us OpenGL but this will not prevent your game from being started.
yes i downvote answers that in my eyes are misleading and/or incorrect. If i downvote an answer i leave a comment about what i think is wrong/misleading as i did in this case as well. As you did not choose to challenge my critique of your answer i assume that you agree with my opinion on this?
Feel free to correct my comment.
Guys please, there can be different opinions and different solutions for topics, and even a wrong tip or hint isn't a world-apocalypse... XDXD

I was building the project on a Mac book for Pc, Standalone .... for macOs and it worked just fine. Until I sent it over to our Mac where it wouldn't open. I then build the same program for Pc, Standalone.... for Windows and sent it to a friend for him to open it.
Turns out for windows it build a folder in which he tried to open the .exe file, which didn't work aswell.
Would you assume this being an error in my coding or in the settings of my build or anything else?
Depends on what you mean by "not working". Is there errors? Is it again an issue with the Systems Security that complains? If so can you share more specific information on that issue?
In general i'd doubt that your code is in any way to blame for this. In my experience Windows will always complain that the programm is not signed, so will mac. But so far i think it was always startable.
Can you perhaps add a screenshot of the messages you get?
