Cyclic nesting detected?
While trying to drag a gameobject into the project window to create a prefab, nothing happens and I get the error 'Cyclic nesting detected'. This only happens in a certain directory. Does anyone understand this error? I can't find anything about it.

I saw this error as well when I accidentally deleted and undeleted a prefab, but it went away after restarting Unity.

To Extend on @Perillio's answer.
I got this by Duplicating the parent and adding it as a child.
Fixed it by Right clicking on the game object and going "Unpack Prefab"

Its a year ago but if anyone wants to know what causes this error: Unity detects a prefab which gets thrown in the same prefab (prefab got itself as a child). Sometimes this error appears when editor did not recognize whats been dragged around too.
Right, understood. I just changed the name of the GameObject, and it worked.
