Oculus Rift DK2 with runtime 1.8.0 not working in Unity 5.4.1

Hello-

I'm trying to use Oculus Rift DK2 with the latest runtime (1.8.0) in Unity 5.4.1f1. I have created a new project and made sure it has VR enabled, Oculus SDK selected, and target platform set to Windows. However, when I run the project in the Editor, the main camera view is only shown in the Game window and not on the HMD, and tracking doesn't work.

No error messages are shown in the console at any point.

Oddly, if I build the project and run the executable, there are no problems. Camera view is displayed on the HMD and tracking works fine. Only in the Editor does the Rift DK2 not work.

Final note: I'm using a GeForce video card with 372.20 drivers.

If you had this problem and found a way to fix it, please post your solution here.

Thanks!

Update: This problem only occurs if I run Unity as a different user on Windows. Due to the way user accounts are set up at my workplace, I can only run Unity as an admin user. But if I do that, VR support is broken - perhaps Unity can't access the Oculus runtime because it's running on the other account. The only fix so far has been to log in with my admin account and then Unity runs and works just fine.

tl;dr if VR is inexplicably not working in Unity Editor on Windows, make sure you aren't running Unity as a different user.
