Character Controller help

I am wanting to set up a custom controller. After looking into the differences between "Rigidbody" and "CharacterControler", I chose to use the "CharacterController" rout.

As I am new to Unity, I looked up all the tutorials I could find. The only one that I found that covered the Character Controller fully was one from 3Dbuz .

It is a well made and full system, but was made under Unity3. As we are now in Unity5, the code now no longer works. If possible, is there a working version for Unity5, or another decent tutorial that is compatible with Unity5 that is for the CharacterController ( Not the Rigidbody version ).
