why is the Custom GUI Skin with APK formatting stretching the buttons?

I'm trying to make a GUI Skin for custom UI elements mainly with the buttons so they aren't the standard Unity buttons, which, works when building for the pc. But when I Build it for android and make and APK file the formatting changes completely.

This picture is what happens with the APK builds

and this is what is should look like.

any suggestions on what is happening or how to help would be most appreciative. Much thanks.

i found the answer i needed to convert the images to legacy gui since that's what i am using instead of the newer gui options for Unity.
