Dust particle kick-up when walking
Hey everyone,
I am pretty new to unity and I was wondering if I could get some assistance in creating a particle effect that would essentially attach to my player and dust would generate from the foot when walking.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. ,Hey everyone,
I have been looking everywhere on how to create dust particle kick-up for when my player walks but I haven't been able to find anything substantial.
I was wondering if someone could help me out with how I would be able to create this effect, thanks!
You can use Emission rate over distance so no particle is emitted when the gameobject doesn’t move. Then enable inherit velocity module and give a bit of negative factor like -0.2 so the dust particles move in the opposite direction of the gameobject, also remember to change simulation space in main module from local to world.

You can do this in a variety of ways. In my game I used animation events on the frame where the foot hits the ground. When this happens a function is called that moves my particle system to the transform.position of the foot that has just hit the ground and gives off a burst of particles (as well as check for ground type and playing a sound). Be sure to simulate particles in world space if you're going to be moving the system around though.
