Profiler Causing Unity Editor to Freeze
Hi everyone,
When I open the profiler window and go into play mode, the profiler does not display any information. When I exit play mode, Unity freezes within a few seconds. If I restart Unity and exit the profiler, I can enter and exit play mode without error.
The console does not display any error. While the profiler is closed, Unity takes about 900-1000 MB of memory while in play mode. While the profiler is open Unity starts taking about 10,000 MB of memory in play mode, and this number continues to rise as play mode runs for longer. Unity takes up an additional 30-70 MB of memory every second that play mode is left running. I stopped play mode once Unity was taking 21,000 MB of memory. After stopping play mode, Unity freezes and becomes totally unresponsive. From the task manager I can see that Unity continues to take an additional 30-80 MB of memory per second until almost reaching 28,000 MB of memory (My machine has 32GB total). At this point Unity fluctuates between 20 - 28 GB of memory.
If anyone has any ideas about what could be wrong it would be greatly appreciated.
