Question by LineCubed · Feb 13, 2014 at 05:27 PM · asset storelicenseeditor extension

Do I need Asset Store editor extension licenses for each team member regardless of use?

I believe I already know the answer to that question, but does one need to purchase licenses of each Asset Store editor extension in a project for every member of the development team regardless of whether that particular team member will be working with those features? Say I purchase an extension for the programmers, will an artist / level layout designer need a license for the extension even when they would never work with it?

I understand that the extensions are included in the project, and thus would be shared with all the team members regardless of their involvement implementing those features. Due to this I would assume that each developer needs a license for all editor extensions in the project despite not using some of them in their area of work. Is this correct?

Perhaps it would be better if these extensions could be installed directly to the editor "seat" rather than included in the project, allowing each team member to only have access to the editor extensions that they will actually use and save the developers funds on wasted licenses.

Also, how do most people typically purchase additional licenses? Should I create a separate account for each team member with Unity Pro / Asset Store editor extensions? I noticed that editor extensions have a quantity field in the asset store cart, is this the preferred method of purchasing enough licenses for all developers?

Thanks all!

I'd really like to know the answer to this as well. If I want to buy something like particle playground, does EVERYONE on the $$anonymous$$m have to buy it as well? Even if they will never use it themselves?
