Beat'en-up grabbing mechanic

Hi, I am developing a beat'en up game. And I'm trying to create a grabbing system, very similar to the game Street of Rage.

I have managed to let the character to grab another character, but here come the problem.

I'm trying to make the playable character jump over to the other side of the enemy character, which is not workable right now.

Sorry for the inconsistent of the characters image.

The character objects are currently using Character Controller component to move them around. And they have collision with every other character. So when I tried using the function Move, the jump will be block by the enemy character and causes the playable character to remain at the same side as before.

I have tried searching google for hints on the grabbing mechanic, but to no avail. I hope I will be able to be enlightened from the guys here =).

If there's any related tutorials or tips, I will be glad to hear them.

Pardon my description if they do not make any sense, and thanks in advance =).

I would like to know more on how to implement this as well, did you make any progress with this one?

Nope, in the end we just give up that mechanic.

Well maybe if you use triggers instead of collision you could say:

if (hit enemy trigger && attacking)

{

Hit()

}
