Unity UI Interactivity Bugs - Have to press ESC between every action

I have created a project in Unity3D and have used UI as part of my solution. The error I am encountering is that if I cannot interact with any UI elements without pressing the ESC button between every action.

I have searched online for a solution and cannot find anything. Any tips or idea's are kindly appreciated.
