Raycast / Gaze on a mesh to select a surface triangle
Dear Unity users,
let me elaborate a bit our problem. I created a Mesh in Unity out of some VTK data. The mesh is basically a cable-like structure with various branchings and the surface is triangulated. What I try to do is: I want to select, by gazing, a surface triangle.
I know, if I have, let's say a simple cube, I could attach colliders to the faces of the cube and detect which face I hit with RayCastHit. Would I use for the Mesh structure a Mesh Collider? I read the Mesh Collider won't be very efficient if the structure is complex and we might have 50,000 surface triangles.
Best wishes, Stephan
