'The art of game design', by Jesse Schell. If you're interested in game design, also consider following extra credits every wednesday on youtube.
Later in game design, you'll want to get more specific books about your field of expertise. Nevertheless, the art of game design presents a design model that helps both new and old game designers, and it covers both the deep levels of game design as well as the basics, so it's good for game designers regardless of what level they're on.
And if it doesn't suite your taste, you can find something that does in this link. http://manojalpa.net/me/books-for-game-designers/
Good reading.,The art of game design, by Jesse Schell. Also consider following extra credits every wednesday on youtube.
Later in game design you will probably start to look at books that go specifically into your expertise, but Jesse gives a formula for design that as a game designer you'll definitely want to use. He also covers the basics and the questions you might not think important ("do you actually want to be a game designer?") , so it's good for experts AND beginners.
And if that doesn't suite your taste, here's a link to other game design books. http://manojalpa.net/me/books-for-game-designers/
Good reading.
