Photon Server
Does anyone have Experience with the Photon Server Service?
Is it easy to use?
How is the pricing?
Do they have database support for databases like SQL?
Couldnt find much about this topic online.
Thanks for your answers.
Photon is free for up to 20 players, if you want more, you have to pay. I use it a lot, it is really easy to use and implement.

Had a bit of experience with the Photon Server Service, it is pretty easy to use and is very well documented but my biggest issue with it is that it isnt really all that scalable from a pricing standpoint if you are a small indie developer (In my opinion your situation may vary). The pricing is done based on the number of concurrent users currently logged into it. You get 20 concurrent users for free but after that you will have to pay.
See pricing here:
However it is worth noting that you can change your plan at any time as your user base grows
Have not had any experience with linking in to MySQL database but as far as I am aware it is possible although not officially supported as photon does not link to any database out of the box. There is a little documentation around this but like you said it is pretty scarce.
This may be useful on how to set it up if you are interested:
Personally I tend to use photon for development and rethink my network architecture if the demand for my game grows and then of course rewriting my network code if I do decide to use something else in the end which can be a lot of work but it all depends on you circumstance.
If you haven't made a multiplayer game before then 100% give photon a go as it is very easy to use and very well documented and there does not really seem to be any limits as to what it can do and the performance is very good to presuming you don't flood your network with garbage but that just comes down to good practice. If you have made a multiplayer game before and have experience with other networking solutions then maybe they could be something to look into.
One post that is worth looking in to is
it does a very good job going through most of the services you can use with a pros and cons breakdown of each
Hope all of that helped good luck
