Question by exia-v · Jan 17, 2015 at 07:31 AM · iosbuildpcmacbook

Can I use Unity Free to build if the project uses iOS Pro features?

If I have a project created with iOS Pro features on a windows pc and then transfer that project to a macbook with Unity Free only, will I be able to build successfully? Or does the macbook need iOS Pro to build to device.

I need the pro features and am considering purchasing the license, but I'm not sure which machine I need to purchase it for. I would rather not have to have it on the macbook, which is only used for development/release builds at this point.

Thanks!

Tanoshimi is correct. A few other things though: the windows version of Unity can build an IOS build of the project, which you can then transfer to the mac and build to an ipad/iphone with xcode. Also a unity pro license can be installed on upto two machines at the same time (as long as both machines are only used by the same person), so there is no difference in licenses, if you buy one unity license it can be used for both a windows and a mac machine.

If you need Pro features, you need Unity Pro to build that project.
