Does the data that is automatically collected by projects created with Unity Personal Edition comply with COPPA?
We are working on an educational iOS application using Unity Personal Edition that will target the 9 to 11 age group, so I need to comply with COPPA. The application will not utilize any analytics or ads services, including Unity Ads or Unity Analytics. However, projects created with Unity Personal Edition automatically collect device data that includes a unique device identifier and IP address. These two pieces of data are considered personal information under COPPA, so I need to clarify how this information is handled by Unity. The data collection will require a direct notice to parents and parental consent, unless: you collect no other “personal information,” such persistent identifiers are collected on or through your site or service solely for the purpose of providing “support for the internal operations” of your site or service.
Does the data collected meet these criteria?
have you ever even opened unity? just turn it off in player settings.
PHONE UNITY if you have a subtle legal question like this
Unfortunately, the data collection can not be disabled in Unity Personal Edition.
