Help with building a city on a mountain?

Hi all,

I've been looking for this answer elsewhere and can't seem to find it, so I'm sorry if it's actually out there and I've overlooked it :D I have an idea of a city built on the side of a snowy mountain but before I start I would like to ask your advice. I am new to Unity so actually I have several questions but it's alright if you can't answer all of them because I am very demanding :D

1) I will be building the models in Cinema 4D then import to Unity. What is the best file format for this? obj? Also will any textures I have applied still remain.

2) Should I design the model to accomodate the slope, or should I do the model first and raise the terrain around it? This is very important to me because the buildings are held up by stilts that should be stuck into the mountain.

3) What is the best approach to create winding roads up the mountain?

4) How can I make snow in Unity3D?

5) How can I make this snow accumulate on the roofs of my houses and fenceposts etc?

Advice and ideas would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance

Dear soul, these are all excellent questions. Definitely AS$$anonymous$$ THE$$anonymous$$ INDIVIDUALLY. Post short, concise questions (one sentence and a clear headline) and many people will help.

For a GENERAL question like this, go to forum.unity3d.com where you will generate a vast discussion.

This site is only for "very specific answers" like "how do you twist a quaternion by 18 degrees upwards" you know. Cheers!
