Best way to load unknown Assets from AssetBundles?
Preface: I am looking at using AssetBundles as a way for people to incorporate additional content into a game (Mods). The game does not know what content/assets are in the AssetBundle prior to loading it. The AssetBundles may even include additional code libraries or scripts for the game. Note - I am relatively new to AssetBundles.
What is the best way to load mod content/assets into a game? Should I use some sort of manifest system - have the game look for a customized manifest file within each AssetBundle, then load the assets specified by the manifest? If so, should this manifest be an .xml file, a ScriptableObject that the creator can link assets to, or something else?
Is there a better way to go about this?
Most of the info I've found regarding AssetBundles seemed to refer to or use examples of loading assets already known to the game. Any advise/examples on how to go about loading mod-like AssetBundles would be appreciated, thank you.
