please tell, what language do you make the script in? javascript or C# or Boo ? I use C# myself, create the script and doubleclick it to open it in the scripteditor environment called $$anonymous$$onoDeveloper (installs with Unity)

For a start, in unity, access the EDIT => PREFERENCES menu, and check what's in the "EXTERNAL SCRIPT EDITOR" box. I strongly suggest you use monodevelop since it has autocomplete and other useful features, over the internal original editor. Monodevelop is included in the original unity installation package, so you should be able to install it even if you didn't with your first unity install.
